The Best Products and Treatments to Target Fine Lines Around the Eyes

The Best Products and Treatments to Target Fine Lines Around the Eyes

The delicate eye area is the thinnest skin on our entire body, and therefore is often the first area to show signs of ageing. Our skin naturally loses collagen and elastin (the proteins providing that youthful, plump look) as we start to age, and our skin becomes looser and more easily creased.

Sun damage can also fast track this type of skin damage, as can dehydration and tiredness. A few smile lines can be great, but if you’re wanting a youthful boost to target those crows’ feet and give you some extra confidence, we know the best products and treatments to do it!

Do I Really Need an Eye Cream if I Moisturise?

Some people often wonder if a separate eye cream is necessary if you’re already using a moisturiser or oil on the rest of your face. It absolutely is if you’re after best results, and that’s because this skin is different to the rest of your face – it’s thin, sensitive, easily irritated and lacks oil glands.

The texture of your eye products needs to be spreadable but not too rich (the heaviness can weigh your skin down), and it’s always best to apply it with your ring finger so you’re not pulling your skin.

When Should I Start Using an Eye Cream?

This is completely up to you, and it’s never too late to start! In your late 20s or early 30s is generally a great time to add in a high performance eye cream, both to prevent lines and target any small ones that have already formed. Whenever you do start, with the right product and active ingredients, you should start to see improvements within just a few days.

It’s All About the Ingredients

Your ideal eye cream needs to be stimulating the production of collagen, as well as providing
hydration and nourishment. When it comes to anti-ageing and collagen production, retinol (Vitamin A) and peptides are always winners, and you’ll also want Hyaluronic Acid for hydration. Antioxidants can also protect this delicate area from environmental stress as well as encouraging new collagen
production.

Here are some of our favourites…

Which Treatments Should I Try For the Eye Area?

With the skin science and technology of today, we’re lucky enough to have a few in-clinic treatments which can fast track a more youthful-looking eye area.

Here at Nicola Quinn we only use the most advanced and reputable devices, so you can relax knowing your skin is in safe hands. Below are some of our favourite treatments for targeting those signs of ageing around the eyes – and the entire face!

Dermapen Microneedling

One of our hero anti-ageing treatments, Dermapen microneedling (also known as collagen
induction therapy) uses a small, delicate device with tiny and fast-moving microneedles over
the face. By stimulating the healing process in the skin, the treated area rejuvenates with
fresh, new collagen and elastin. Find out all about microneedling here.

Botox

Injectables such as Botox are “neuromodulators” which weaken and paralyse the muscles in
the face, and they’re very commonly used around the eye area. It’s always best to start with
a small amount, but Botox is great for temporarily “freezing” those frown lines and crow’s
feet to give you a fresher and more relaxed appearance, particularly if you have a big event
or holiday coming up, as the effects last up to a few months. Find out about our injectables
here.

Advanced Facials

We all love a good facial, but did you know not all facials are equal? Nourishing facials will
certainly hydrate and pamper our skin, but a bespoke facial peel such as the O Cosmedics
PDP Planning Peel will be where you really start to see results. These facials target signs of
ageing through different levels and strengths, providing some seriously transformational
results. Explore our selection of facials here.
